Over the last 10 years, we’ve had the opportunity to do some amazing things and meet some amazing people through this business and the beer that goes with it. Probably on top of that list would have to be coming to know Jake Elliott over the last year. It’s a rarity to get to know someone like Jake, who goes on to become Super Bowl Champion, but even more special to get to know someone of that stature with whom what Liquid Art just clicks. Coming to know Jake through his acquisition into Philly, we’ve grown to know him on more a personal level, sharing beers, having brunch, and having someone to bounce cool ideas off.
That’s how 4 The Win was born. We wanted to commemorate the moment Jake hit an Eagles record, game winning kick to win the game in his first home game as an Eagle. We had the opportunity to celebrate with Jake that night at the Barrel House and build on a friendship going forward. Jake designed the beer with our brewers, learned the ins and outs of the brewing process, and even lended a hand in a brew, sweating through a mash out!
We’re humbled to be lucky enough to get an opportunity to work with someone like Jake, and flattered that he loves us enough to just be a customer. We see in Jake a commitment to craft and a dedication to getting things right and consistent that we can ourselves learn from as brewers. Jake’s path is an unusual one; in a year he went from practice squad to riding down Broad Street with the entire City of Philadelphia cheering for him – it’s a reminder to us to hold the course, do your best every day and never quit in your dedication to your craft. Everything is a process, and takes time, from beer to championships, and we hope we can showcase the work on both sides in this beer dedicated to the Giant Killer – Jake Elliott.
